<p><strong>Primary Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p>position will be responsible for performing a wide variety of laboratory tasks</p>
<p><strong>Specific responsibilities</strong><br />
- Composite and prepare samples as per SGS methods by cutting and weighing incoming samples.<br />
- Daily monitoring of refrigerator and freezer temperatures.<br />
- Organizing refrigerators and freezers.<br />
- Cleaning of refrigerators, water baths, N-Evap, and dusting of computers, benches, etc.<br />
- Defrosting freezers.<br />
- Cleaning fumehoods<br />
- Ensuring proper disposal of samples as per company policies and documentation of disposal date.<br />
- Calibration of balances, pipettes, auto pipettors, syringes, etc, as per company guidelines.<br />
- Update MSDS and Certificate of Analysis binders.<br />
- Clean used glassware.<br />
- Maintain a clean working environment.<br />
- Archive documents and maintain a log.<br />
- Disposal of waste solvents.<br />
- Neutralization of acidic and basic waste for disposal.<br />
- Silanization of glass wool and liners.<br />
- Preparation of diazomethane, if necessary.<br />
- Maintain standards inventory.<br />
- Follow all company health, safety and environmental policies<br />
- Adhere to the Company’s Quality Policy and Procedures.<br />
- Follow Quality/Laboratory Management Systems’ procedures and documentation.<br />
- Support any other duties that may be assigned.</p>

<p>Working within the context of a client-centered care approach, the vision/values of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, and in accordance with CRNBC Standards of Practice, the Home Care Nurse plans, delivers and evaluates the care needs of acutely, chronically and terminally ill adult and older adult clients in community settings, initiating referrals to other professionals or agencies where required, and provides education and counseling to clients/families and provides information and guidance to other caregivers and health providers. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources and other health care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in health services and education.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">QUALIFICATIONS:</span></strong></p>
<p>Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia. Preferably a minimum of 2 years’ recent experience as a community health nurse with recent and/or diverse acute care nursing, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid B.C. driver’s license. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage reimbursement will be paid. The ability to speak a second language may be required and will be listed on posting.</p>
<p>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities:<br />
Working knowledge of community health and/or geriatric/palliative/mental health/addictions nursing practice within a client/family-centered care approach. Working knowledge of CRNBC Standards for Nursing Practice. Working knowledge of life-span development, family theory, multicultural health practices, principles of health education/promotion, and determinants of health. Demonstrated abilities in facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution techniques, and demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrated discharge planning and/or case coordination. Demonstrated ability in conducting physical/mental/psychosocial/functional and environmental assessments. Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain a variety of charts, records and reports related to work. Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize workload and adapt to a changing caseload. Demonstrated ability to plan/deliver in-services to individuals and groups. <p>Practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice as well as within a client and family centred care model and the vision and values of the department across the Lower Mainland Integration (LMI) health authorities (Fraser Health Authority, Providence Health Care, Provincial Health Services Authority, and Vancouver Coastal Health).</p>
<p>Position performs client registration and check in, places appointment reminder calls to clients, relays pre-test preparation information to clients, and may reschedule and/or book client appointments as required. Assists Technologists with positioning and lifting clients as directed and/or escorting patients to and from exam room.</p>
<p>Monitors and replenishes department inventories and ensures core supply levels are maintained, performs cleaning and tidying functions of the area, performs clerical functions, and acts as receptionist to support the delivery of client care to ensure client/family needs are met above all other concerns.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">QUALIFICATIONS:</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Education &amp; Experience<br />
</span>Grade 12 plus two year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities<br />
</span>Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.</p>
