Full-Time Wireless Technician – Senior (Burnaby)

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Wireless Technician for our Burnaby, BC office.
The LTS Wireless Division is capable of building and maintaining Wireless sites for Broadband, Microwave and Cellular providers. This Division has the capability of building wireless sites from the ground up, working on existing or new towers and rooftops for our clients. Leveraging our specialty trained LTS Technicians across Canada; we also offer the installation and commissioning of wireless equipment and emergency restoration in support of wireless communication carriers across Canada.
Responsibilities
- Implementation, testing and commissioning of wireless work orders
- Install, testing and commissioning of Node B’s and microwave systems
- Maintaining site documentation resulting from engineering activities and contractor work orders and writing incident and fault reports as required
- Interface with other carriers, departments and personnel to solve network problems
- Implement preventative maintenance routines and schedule accordingly
- Identify issues, respond to queries, discuss trouble details and provide explanation/assistance relating to network project activity directly with external / internal customers in a professional manner
- Work with Operations Team & other groups to explain / discuss details regarding progress and issues
- Project tracking, including financial and implementation progress
Requirements
- 5 + years experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Working knowledge of Digital Wireless Communications, and Radio Frequency Networks and Data/IP Networks.
- Experience in testing/analysis of Wireless network elements
- Knowledge of UMTS, Wireless Communications protocols and Networks
- Experience with fiber splicing and testing
- Demonstrated effective decision making skills under limited supervision
- Experience with installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and repair RBS equipment
- Certificate to work on Ericsson equipment would be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions or escalate as required
- Familiarity with GSM/GPRS/CDMA/ WCDMA/HSPA/LTE
- Must be willing and able to work various shifts as assigned (such as evenings, weekends and statutory holidays), based on business needs.
- Demonstrated professional oral and written communications skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively with other departments
- Must have valid class 5 driver’s license
